Get Involved

There are many ways you can help make the Lower Beaver Neighborhood a neighborhood that people want to call home. there are many volunteer opportunities represented throughout the association, and we are constantly looking for more ways to improve our community. Below are just a few of the options. For more information, or to sign up for any of these volunteer opportunities, contact Jeremy at jrgeerdes@gmail.com.

Board of Directors

By joining the LBNA’s Board of Directors, you will have a role in steering the association into the future. Requirements for this position include a current membership. Half of the board positions are up for election at the association’s annual pot-luck and business meeting every February.

Special Events

The LBNA’s Special Events Committee is responsible for scheduling, planning, and executing various events throughout the year including Movie In the Park, Neighborhood Night Out, and the Winter Social.

Adopt-a-Park

Woodlawn Park and the Tom & Sophie Vlassis Greenbelt are jewels within the Lower Beaver Neighborhood. These beautiful outdoor spaces are beautiful and provide numerous recreational opportunities. To keep them beautiful, volunteers sweep through these spaces at least once per month to pick up litter, report broken equipment, etc. Adopting a park is easy.

Gardening

With its tree-lined streets, the Lower Beaver Neighborhood offers a lot of natural beauty. To accentuate that beauty, the LBNA has established a number of flower beds in various locations. Volunteers prepare and plant these flower beds in the spring, maintain them during the summer months, and clean them up in the fall. If you have a green thumb, this is the opportunity for you! Plants are provided.

Neighborhood Watch Captains

Safety and security are everyone’s responsibility. Studies have shown that neighborhoods in which residents know and watch out for each other are safer than others. Neighborhood Watch captains introduce neighbors to each other, foster relationships, and help people know what to watch for to keep us all safe.
