First day of school

The 2024-2025 school year is off and running in the Lower Beaver Neighborhood. Johnston Community Schools began classes on Friday, August 23, and Des Moines Public Schools began on Monday, August 25.
With the start of a new school year, residents are reminded to be mindful of children walking and buses operating in the area. Further, please remember to stop when you see a school bus with flashing red lights and an extended stop arm.
