Seventeen Lower Beaver households submit projects for Community Block Challenge Grant

There will be a lot of “Busy Beavers” on the north end of the Lower Beaver neighborhood this summer after a group of homeowners became the first LBN residents to be approved for the city’s Community Block Challenge Grant.

The Block Challenge Grant reimburses residents up to 50% or $2,500 of the cost of projects that positively impact the curb appeal of their homes and neighborhoods. Example projects include landscaping; tree removal; replacing driveways, siding, windows, and roofs. One interesting twist to this grant, however, is the community component: participating households must be within sight of each other.

Team Busy Beavers, as the group of LBN homeowners has dubbed themselves, was initially approved for 19 households, pending the approval of individual projects. In late June, seventeen of the nineteen households submitted their projects for final approval.

The LBNA will follow the progress of Team Busy Beavers over the next weeks and months. In the meantime, residents should watch for signs to appear on the participating properties. Stay tuned!
