LBNA to host Mega SCRUB event May 20 (VOLUNTEERS NEEDED)

The LBNA and several other neighborhood associations across the city’s northwest side will host a Mega SCRUB event at Polk County River Place on Saturday, May 20, from 7a until 1p. The event will allow Des Moines residents to dispose of bulk trash items, tires, appliances, and hazardous waste. An industrial shredder will also be onsite to destroy personal documents.

Mega SCRUB events provide residents the opportunity to dispose of items that cannot be taken in the household toters. They are a fantastic tool to reduce litter in our neighborhoods and along our waterways, and they are a great way to combat blight throughout the city of Des Moines.

Additionally, Mega SCRUBs are a great way to support the work of area neighborhood associations. Donations collected from residents disposing of items at the event are used to organize activities and help associations like the LBNA advocate for residents at the city council and elsewhere.

Mega SCRUB events rely on volunteers to succeed. Volunteers will primarily check drivers licenses and direct traffic. The work is easy and fun! To help with the Polk County River Place Mega SCRUB, sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080e48aaa72eaafb6-river3#/
